MULTI-GENERATIONAL LIVING EMBRACED IN TRICO'S CONCORD

Some new homes are designed for families with two children. But there are many households that don’t fit that profile.

One example is multi-generational living arrangements. This may include one’s elderly parents living in the home, as well.

Flexibility to support a range of family formats is available in the Concord by Trico Homes. This 2,305-square-foot, front-drive, single-family model is now displayed as a show home in Heartwood.

This new southeast Calgary community includes three planned parks, along with a wetland and pond area.

The Concord has four bedrooms above grade, including one on the first storey. Occupants of the main floor bedroom have all their daily needs on one level. This makes it ideal for people who need to avoid regular use of stairs, such as some seniors.

This idea is supported by the fact that there’s a full bathroom with a shower just a few steps away from this bedroom. In most cases, any main floor bathroom is a half bathroom.

Beyond bedrooms on the top level, this show home demonstrates the model’s ability to include two more bedrooms in the basement. This is part of a legal suite that also features a kitchen and rec area.

This suite can benefit a number of potential suitors, such a rental tenant or — staying in the family — an older child going to college and needing a space of their own.

In either case, they’d benefit from a side entrance, a feature presented in the show home. This gives the people who live in the suite a direct connection to the stairs. In turn, they avoid needing to walk through the main level to access their end of the home.

The basement kitchen has a functional L-shaped design. It’s equipped with stainless steel appliances including an over-the-range microwave.

On the top level, the primary bedroom reaches 12 feet nine inches by 14 feet one-foot.

The ensuite blends style with convenience. It has upscale features, such as spacious shower with a glass door and full-height tile.

Inside the ensuite is a large walk-in closet. This direct connection supports a smoother morning and bedtime routine.

In the show home, the larger of the two secondary bedrooms has an ensuite with a walk-in closet accessed within it, as well. Like the aforementioned ensuite, this one has a vanity with two sinks beneath a full-width mirror.

A central bonus room provides a buffer between the primary bedroom and secondary bedrooms. Its visual interest is elevated by an eye-catching tray-style ceiling design.

Directly across from the bonus room is a handy laundry area with a front-load washer and dryer.

The main level is bright and designed for entertaining. Its well-sized L-shaped kitchen opens to a dining area and great room along the rear-facing wall.  This wall boasts large windows that pull sunshine across the open-concept main level.

One of the draws of the kitchen is its island, which has a sink and eating bar that seats three people. The island, positioned beneath pendant lighting, is a place in which people will want to relax and chat while dinner finishes in the oven or air fryer.

Another strength of this cooking space is its storage. Along with its substantial array of cabinet doors and drawers, it has a walk-in pantry.
